Branches Refuge

On February 28, 2014, Branches Refuge opened its doors to offer safe haven to the first Monroe County resident seeking shelter. We are now actively open to receive referrals and our crisis line is operational. We must now operate for one entire year solely on donations from the community before we are eligible to apply for any type of government grants. Please consider making a donation to the Refuge today.

Did you know?

  • 71% of pet-owning women fleeing domestic violence reported their animals were injured, maimed, killed or threatened for revenge or psychological control
  • Between 25% and 40% of battered women are unable to escape for fear of what will happen to their family pets

Branches recognizes the difficult decision these women face when it comes to their beloved pets, therefore we are preparing a kennel to house and care for our four-legged friends on The Refuge Property. The pets will be taken care of by the women at the shelter and through the generous donations of people in our community.
